5 Things You Can Do To Get Ready For Autumn

Happy September everybody! I don’t know about you, but I am so excited that it is finally September because that means one thing… AUTUMN! I am so ready for boots and jumpers, hot water bottles and blankets, cosy nights watching Netflix on the sofa and of course, endless hot chocolate!

September for me is a like a new year, I mean it is literally a new year for students and teachers, and you know that I love getting organised at the beginning of a new year!

Today, I spent the morning browsing planners and notebooks at TK Maxx and Sainsburys (and did a huge haul over on my Instagram stories!) and this afternoon I have done paperwork and got myself organised, ready to start a new academic year! It’s a chance to evaluate your goals, your habits, your routines and put new ones in place and I just love doing all of that!

So if you’re not feeling very autumnal, let me give you 5 things you can do to get ready for autumn, which I guarantee will help you feel those autumn vibes.

5 Things You Can Do To Get Ready For Autumn

Obviously this is the number one thing you need to do because it is the most exciting, and stationary at this time of year is just amazing. I’m talking all the planners, all the notebooks, all the cute pens! Get yourself to the shops and go mad! (But not too mad because you also don’t want to bankrupt yourself right before Christmas!). I highly recommend Sainsburys, TK Maxx, Paperchase and also Etsy for some really beautiful stationary items.

Ok, maybe not all of them because the UK can never make it’s mind up! But one way that I love to get in the mood for autumn and winter is to have a wardrobe clear out and put all those holiday clothes that you know you definitely won’t wear again away, and clear some space for your jumpers! It goes without saying that if you’re putting your summer clothes away, you need to get your winter clothes out!

The colder nights mean one thing – dry skin (if you’re anything like me anyway!) But that’s just the perfect excuse to revamp your skincare routine. I’m talking moisturising and hydrating face masks every week, overnight face masks 2-3 times a week, facial oils, a new moisturiser and my favourite product, the Kheils Midnight Recovery Oil – I’m officially obsessed. You’ll soon feel like a glowing goddess with your new and improved skincare routine and won’t be able to stop yourself from getting cosy in the evenings with a hot bath and a face mask.

I don’t really need to say much here except you need autumnal candles with scents like Pumpkin Spice and Cinnamon. Can’t get enough. And I’m going to recommend TK Maxx again because why not?!

This is an absolute must for me, and to be honest I do this all year round, but if you don’t, here’s why you should. The nights are getting colder and darker, which means more time in front of the TV, and to be honest, that shouldn’t necessarily be a bad thing! A ‘to watch list’ really gets me in the mood for cosy, duvet days at the weekend and movie and popcorn nights through the week. Honestly, can’t get enough!

I’m sorry but you’re not doing autumn right unless you buy some new PJs. I’m talking cosy loungewear sets, dressing gowns, slippers and obviously all the fluffy socks! Just picture it; you’re getting out of bath, having just washed your hair and enjoyed a face mask, to get into your new fluffy dressing gown and slippers. You sit on the bed with your mug of hot chocolate before your get into your new Disney PJs from Primark and your fluffy socks to get ready to watch Beauty and the Beast with all the blankets on the sofa. It’s a vibe, and I’m living for it.

I’m sorry, but if you don’t feel the slightest bit autumnal after reading this, then who are you?! But seriously, who else is so ready for autumn to begin?! Get those candles lit, get your new planner out, your new PJs on and watch Netflix to your heart’s content.

I hope you enjoyed this very random but cosy post, and I’d love to hear what you do to get ready for autumn! Let me know in the comments below.

Until next time,
