Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll know that the Morphe X Jaclyn Hill Palette is back on Beauty Bay! Now I am obsessed with this palette. There is not one shade that I don’t like. So, I thought it was only fair to do a full review on the palette! After my Tarte Cosmetics haul was popular, I’ve been dying to do another beauty review, so here it is.
As you can see from the name of this palette, it was designed by the Jaclyn Hill, a beauty YouTuber who I love watching. Her makeup tutorials are just incredible and I love her wacky personality! As soon as I found out that she was bringing a palette out with Morphe, I was beyond excited!
Before buying this palette, I had only ever used Morphe brushes, which are also really good quality. I’d never used any of their makeup before but I’d heard really good things about their eyeshadow. My cousin has one of the palettes and she always raved about how good it was. I actually used her palette before Christmas, and I have to agree! Of course, the Jaclyn Hill Palette was not available to buy in the UK, and even though I loved it, I wasn’t willing to buy it from America.
But, when I found out that Beauty Bay were stocking it after Christmas I just couldn’t help myself! I had 3 weeks of stress in January so I decided to treat myself and bought this palette. It is definitely safe to say that I’ve had no regrets!
Jaclyn Hill Palette
This palette has 35 different shades, each one being absolutely beautiful – no complaints there! It costs £37 which at first glance might seem like a lot, but it actually comes down to about £1.06 / per shade which I think is really quite good! It is more expensive than the usual 35 shade Morphe palettes (£23) but definitely not more expensive than other brands, where you can easily spend the same amount of money for half the amount of makeup!
The quality of this palette is unbelievable. In her video talking about this palette, Jaclyn talks about the quality and says that the reason it took so long to do was because she wanted to perfect each and every shade, and she really did. The pigment is incredible, and the shades are so easy to blend. It feels as though they just melt into your skin!
Also, can we just talk about the shade range? There really is a shade for everybody isn’t there?! There are the brighter colours, such as the purples, blues, greens and oranges, the browny/bronze colours which we all know and love and also some really pretty pale pink shimmery pales, along with your basic transition shades! Oh, and did I mention the most blinding inner corner highlight you will ever seen?!
My Favourite Shades
- Pool Party
Although, I literally love every single one, so that was really hard to choose!!
Now I haven’t got any swatches for you, mainly because I’m hopeless at taking pictures of swatches! But, if you want to see the palette in action, I highly recommend you going to watch Jaclyn Hill’s video where she talks about the palette and does swatches as well!
So, I’ve talked about the positives of this palette, and there are a lot of them! But this palette doesn’t come without its negatives. I think the main point for me is that there are no shades names. When I’ve watched YouTuber’s talk about this palette, they had the shade names written on a slip of paper within the palette, which I didn’t get. It definitely isn’t the end of the world, and it wouldn’t stop me buying the palette, but it is a slight downside for me.
Also, the packaging (white cardboard) does get dirty quite easily, which is frustrating if you’re a neat freak like me and like to keep things clean! But again, this is only a minor problem compared to the overall quality of the palette!
So, would I buy this again? Absolutely. It has fast become one of my go-to favourite palettes, and no matter what look you want to go for, you can do it with this. I personally think that Jaclyn has done an absolutely fantastic job, along with Morphe, and I have no regrets at all buying the palette.
Have you tried this palette? What did you think?
