Dear Diary || May 17'

Hello everyone! You may have noticed that I have been very absent on my blog over the past few weeks, and I do apologise! Especially to those of you who are waiting on your guest posts to go live – I will be rescheduling them over the next couple of weeks and one will go live every Sunday (if everything goes to plan!). This post will mainly be reflecting on May, and will end with a few of my June goals, and also I will let you know what sort of posts you can expect to see from me this month!
I'm finally back! This post is a reflection on May and has some goals for June!

May Reflection

May was a tough month for me, I’m not going to sugar-coat it. I really struggled throughout the month with many aspects of my life, which is why I haven’t been as active on my blog. My food and fitness hasn’t been horrendous, but it definitely could have been better, and my health in general with my ME/CFS really tried to get the better of me.
This month I have also been experiencing more symptoms which are symptoms of Fibromyalgia. This is something that I have suspected I’ve had for over a year now, but I haven’t done anything about but this past month has really shown me that if I do have it, then I need to accept it and work with it, instead of against it. Saying that, after talking to my Doctor about it, I have decided not to go forward and push for an official diagnosis, mainly because I just do not have the energy for that, when even with a proper diagnosis, there is nothing they can do for me. I know in my head that there is a strong possibility for me to have Fibro, but a diagnosis will do nothing for me, except give me another label and another diagnosis on my medical record. The best thing I can do is try to manage it as best I can as I have with the ME/CFS, and just monitor it. Because I am also pushing for a diagnosis for an underactive thyroid, which can also cause Fibro symptoms, I am going to put my energy into getting that diagnosis, as with that I can be treated with medication, so that, to me, is going to be more beneficial than pushing for a Fibro diagnosis.
However, despite having struggled health-wise this month, I have made some great memories. I performed on stage with the Singing Society which was such an amazing experience, even if it was terrifying! I also spent a day in Leeds with Angus and we went to see The Play That Goes Wrong which is absolutely brilliant, and I would definitely recommend you to go and see it!

In terms of Uni, I completed two assignments, both of which caused me a lot of stress and consequently contributed to my flare-up but I’m pleased to say that I managed to complete them both, and now I just have one portfolio to do for the beginning of July and then 2nd year is officially complete!!
Overall, despite May being a difficult month in some aspects, in others, I have thoroughly enjoyed it! The friendships I had before and cared about have strengthened over this past month so much, and I love that the people that I have in my life now are true, honest and real friends who will always be there for me no matter what, and that means more than anything else to me.

June Goals

  • Healthy eating!! Get back to that 80/20 lifestyle!
  • Hot lemon water every morning.
  • Walk at least every other day – health permitting!
  • Stick to my blog schedule!
  • Action plan for final Uni module & portfolio and stick to it.

I haven’t made any fitness goals this month really as I’m currently laid up with suspected sciatica and so this month I am going to concentrate mainly on my food and walks, and hopefully bring the fitness back in towards the end of the month and in July! If you want to follow my health journey more, you can see it over on my Instagram page (@amymargaret08)!

I am also really keen to get back into blogging – I forgot how much I enjoyed writing until I started this post! My main aim with that is to finish publishing the Confessions of a Spoonie posts, and then do any extra posts I can manage around those.
Some posts that I hope to publish this month include:

  • Ashy Bines Squad Tour!!
  • WeightWatchers vs MyFitnessPal
  • Raspberry Ketones

There are others scheduled but they are the three that I definitely want to do this month! Any more are simply just a bonus!

I would also like to say a MASSIVE THANK YOU to everyone who has followed me on Twitter, as last week I reached 1000 followers! If you don’t follow me already and would like to, you can find me over at @amysaunders08! I am going to try and do a little giveaway to show my appreciation so keep an eye out for that over on Twitter!
Until next time,
Amy xxx (1)

Congrats on the Twitter followers, that’s fab. Just started following you on my personal account (though I admit I rarely use Twitter at all!) You’ve got a lot going on and I understand the issues around diagnosis. I’m not sure where exactly you are, but all localities seem to have different standards regarding thyroid testing. I had a nightmare with mine. Might be a good idea to read up on the levels and what they mean, and keep pushing until they do the right tests (T4 and T3, not just TSH) and give you your TSH level so you can check it out for yourself (the level of TSH for a diagnosis in the UK, for instance, is a lot lower than other countries as they don’t seem to like diagnosing and therefore treating it). x

Thank you! My Doctors are a nightmare for thyroid. My Mum has it too, so she knows exactly what I’m going through and is helping me try and get the diagnosis! Unfortunately, the Drs refuse to test me for T3 and T4, we have asked repeatedly but they just won’t do it so we’re considering going private for those tests. I’ve already been tested for antibodies which are higher than they should be so I’ve been told that I am very likely to develop an underscore thyroid at some point, but they’re only going off TSH which I know can change all the time. It’s very frustrating as I have nearly every single symptom there is for this but the Doctors just won’t take any notice. Thank you so much for your comment and your support! X
